Espíritus del Bosque sells handcrafted 925-silver jewelry inspired by nature and symbolism. Beyond a standard catalog, the brand offers personal commissions — bespoke “talismans” combining natural elements and meaningful symbols — so the store had to support both off-the-shelf and made-to-order buying.
What I Built
- A themed WooCommerce catalog spanning rings, earrings, necklaces, sets, combs (peinetas), and bracelets, on a dedicated media subdomain for assets.
- A special-orders / custom-commission flow alongside standard “Add to cart” and variable products (“Select options”).
- Mexican retail essentials: IVA-inclusive pricing and an integrated shopping cart.
- An “Artisan’s Almanac” content section describing the symbolic properties of materials (pearl, opal, moonstone) to reinforce the brand story.
Tech & Hosting
- WordPress / WooCommerce, custom theme work in PHP/CSS.
- Dedicated media subdomain for image delivery using Google Cloud Platform; managed hosting with automated TLS.
- MercadoPago payment gateway integration through a vendor-certified channel.
What I Learned
- The challenges and considerations required to properly handle media request offloading using S3-compatible technologies.
- The value of data compression techniques at different levels of the used stack.
- The need to diversify solutions providers in the event of force-majeure outages.
